How do I convert my
WAV files into MP3s?
That is a very interesting question. But like all other music files there is always a very easy way to do this. The first thing you will need is a small program such as codec. You can download this file from the following link:
Once you have downloaded this short program and run the ?Setup? file you should then manually create an Icon in the folder C:\Windows\Desktop so you can access the Codec program quickly and easily. The following screen dump shows a Codec icon that has already been created in the folder C:\Windows\Desktop on my computer at home:
Ok. So I now have a copy of
the program and a shortcut on my desktop, but how do I use the program?
Firstly you should load the program by double clicking on the icon on your desktop. It should look something like the screen dump below once the program has loaded:
Then you should select the drive that you have the WAV file on that you want covert. You do this by selecting the third box down in the left hand corner. The following screen dump shows a preview of how this is done:
Then you select the
folder where the WAV file is stored.
You do this by double clicking on the folder. The following screen dump shows the contents of the folder which
I have my WAV files stored in:
NOW YOU ARE READY TO
CONVERT YOUR FILE!
To do this click on
the box ?wav to Mp3? which you find is the second row down in the centre of the
window. Then click on the file you want
to covert and press the command button ?code? which you find in the second row
down in the right of the window. The following
screen dump shows a WAV file being converted:
You should here a beep
through your speakers/headphones when the conversion has finished (This may
take some time depending on how big the WAV file is. This is because it is compressing the file when it is being converting
it into an MP3).
The codec should bring
up a menu screen like the following screen dump when it has completed:
Once you have
converted your file you should go into Windows Explorer and find where you
installed the Codec program. You should
find the file that you converted here.
The following screen dump shows a successful conversion:
You now can play your
MP3 file under your favourite music player.
The following screen dump shows the successful conversion playing under
media play:
